Bethlehem – Ma’an – The ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Doha remain at a standstill, as Israeli sources report that Israel is in no rush to reach a hostage deal or ceasefire agreement.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to prolong the talks until the Israeli Knesset’s recess on January 27.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Al Thani in Washington later today—a meeting that may play a critical role in shaping the outcome of the negotiations.

Sources claim that “Israel is stalling in Doha,” although it has shown some flexibility regarding map adjustments, conceding “100 meters here and 100 meters there.” However, Hamas remains firm in its demand to return to the pre-ceasefire lines of March, particularly in specific locations along the Philadelphi Corridor.

The sources emphasize that everything now hinges on Trump and his actions.

“Hamas understands it has a rare opportunity to strike a deal with Trump rather than negotiate with him later,” one source said.

They added:

“Tonight’s meeting between Trump and the Qatari Prime Minister is of great significance—it could be the key to closing the file.”
